Glass Block Nightlight

Here is the project that I promised in a day or two, but it got moved up on the list today. I received this block from my friend Debby probably about a year ago. *gasp* It's been in the back of my mind though to do something with it. I was going to do some glass etching, but if you've even done that it can get messy and you have to be careful and I just haven't felt in the mood to do something that I needed to be that careful with and not ruin this glass block. So while surfing some stamping sites I came across a block that was done a little different. What I did here was use the white Stazon ink refill and squirted some of the ink on the freshly cleaned block. I then took a paper towel and sponged the ink around. Once dry I stamped on it with black Stazon ink and once that was dried I colored it in using Sharpie markers since these are permanent. I then used Crystal Effects and made little snow hills and covered them with Dazzling Diamonds glitter. It still thought the sky area looked a little empty so I used the Bashful Blue craft pad and stamped a few snow flakes which you can barely see, but it just adds that little something. When Debby gave me the block it had already had a hole drilled in the bottom (thanks Marty!) so I just had to shove the 15 light string of lights inside. I tied some very wide organdy ribbon that I had saved off of a flower arrangement I'd received one time (you know me can't throw anything away) around the block. I'm pretty pleased with how it turned out. Hope you like it.

Just a Monday

It's just a Monday. Sort of gloomy outside so I've been doing housework today. You know what they say......Housework makes you ugly! How about you does it make you ugly? Well stampin' doesn't so let's do some stampin' since that makes me happy! Here's a couple of Christmas cards for ya today. I'm working on another project, but it will have to wait a day or 2 before I can show you.

Blessings,
Renee

Sunday

Yes, it's Sunday and just about time for my Sunday afternoon nap. I love to take a Sunday afternoon nap. It's the only time I allow myself to take a nap and not feel guilty. Guess is goes back to my childhood. We always took a nap, everyone in the house did and if you didn't you had better be quiet somewhere. I just love the calmness and quiet of a Sunday afternoon. Well, before I go nap, here's a couple more things I made yesterday. The card is the same layout as the one yesterday, but different colors and I added glitter which is a little hard to see, but is very pretty IRL. The basket is so fun to make. Look for a make & take night here at my place to learn how to make these soon. You will just love them. Snnnnooooorrrrr...............oh excuse me I must have dozed off..........................Blessings, Renee

Happy Saturday!

Happy Saturday! I have been really enjoying posting to my blog except for the fact of having to come up with a title for my posting. I'm just never too sure what to put on there to catch your eye and from the amount of postings that I've been receiving (in fact none the last few posts) maybe I haven't been catching your eye. If you are a customer and you are enjoying my blog even just a little please leave a comment or 2. I jump on here to see if anyone has posted and then there is nothing. I know, I don't have much of a life. Ok, enough of my whinning and onto stamping. I was home alone most of the day yesterday and actually was able to stamp a little and I have what I think are some pretty good projects for you. It will be hard not to post them all at one time. Hope you like them and as always if you want or need more details please feel free to contact me.

On a last note I've decided to extend my free shipping offer that I made yesterday and I will extend it through Sunday night. I started to think that maybe a lot of you braved the stores yesterday and didn't have a chance to read your email. Please let me know by Sunday midnight if you would like to take advantage of this offer and remember it cannot be used in connection with a workshop order or your punch card.
Here's a couple of projects and have a great day!

My Tree

Here's my version of the trees that everyone seems to be making with the double-sided designer paper. I used the Wintergreen paper for mine. This is pretty easy once you get the hang of it and stop stressing about it all being perfect or at least it was for me. The strips of paper were cut 1/2" x 6 and then looped and stuck to a Styrofoam tree shape with straight pins. The top was made by punching 6 scalloped circle punches and folding in half and gluing back to back. Now back to the Ben Franklin this afternoon/evening to get some more tree forms. Oops! Shouldn't have said that. Don't beat me there. Back to the crafting table to see what else I can make today.

Nothin' to do with Stampin'

I'm cleaning a basket out today that I had thrown some stuff that I would "take care of later". I'm sure you all don't have baskets like that..he-he. Well, when we were cleaning up stuff from the garage sale we had at my folks I had found this picture in some old books. No my mom wasn't into scrapbooking in those days. Pictures were taken and who knows where they would show up. I know mom, you did the best you could you were busy raising a family. Anyway I just had to share this picture. This is (in front) my sister Carin (oh if she could be this goofy now) Michele (see Chele it looked like I was hugging you, maybe I did like you) me of course (is it any wonder that the playground aid at school called me Rosey? --check out those cheeks) and in the back was my cousin Sue (she lived with us and was like a sister). Hey check out that Old Olive two piece outfit I was wearing and that puffy sleeve shirt. That was my fav and of course mom sewed it for me. I love to look back at old pics and remember the good ol' days. Oh no! That must mean I'm old. Yikes!

Just a little box or 2

Here's a couple of the boxes I made yesterday. Just simple origami boxes. You can find the directions here for the bow http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/resources/paperbow.php and here for the boxes http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/resources/tutorials/origami_box/ The other blue bow is made using the box maker by Coluzzle. If you don't have one of these and would like one just contact me and I'll tell you where you can purchase one. Both of theses boxes were so easy to make and a great way to use the double sided designer paper. Which by the way is still on special until the end of the month. Buy 3 packs and get one free. Total would be $34.81 including shipping and tax and you will get 4 packs of you choice of our beautiful paper. Call me soon. This special only lasts until Nov. 30.

Blessings,

Renee

I know it's been a long time..........

I know, I've been reminded that it's been a week since I posted last. (thanks Carin!) I've just had a lot on my plate the last week, but I'm looking forward to a little break this week and of course I'm looking forward to Thanksgiving. Why you ask? Well let's just say that Thanksgiving with my family (more the extended part) is pretty unusual. Never a dull moment and to think I'm related to these people. I'd go into more details, but with your words in print it's hard to deny them. *grin* If you'd like details please feel free to give me a call. All I'm gonna say is, you'd have to be there to appreciate it.

Moving on........I'm hoping to get a little stamping done this week as well. Here is one of the projects though that I worked on over the weekend.

This is an invite to a baby shower that my sister Michele is throwing for her friend/employer Trish Steinman. Jim and Trish just recently adopted a baby girl (Sarah May). She is just the sweetest little bundle. The reason for 3 little monkeys on this card? Well they are also expecting twin girls in February. Yes, that's right 3 babies! Sarah was born in Oct. so she'll only be about 5 months or so depending on when the other 2 girls arrive. We are so excited for them. I love that I can love on Sarah right now and then I get to go home and sleep. I love babies, but part of me is glad I'm past that stage in my life. I think it's the part that likes to get a full nights rest. *Ü* My girls are just in love with her and they are looking forward to the other two as well. Oh and did I mention that when Michele asked me to make these invites and approved the sample she told me she only needed about 30 of them? Well in the end she needed 70. Not a big deal unless you love to be punching and coloring 210 monkeys, not to mention the same amount of layers. Thanks Chele for forgetting that little detail. Thanks too to my mom for helping me punch, color and fold.

Just a couple of details about the card. You can't see the background very well, but it was stamped in Pretty in Pink using the Fine Lace background. The monkey is from Zoofari, stamped in Regal Rose and colored in with Pretty in Pink. Punches 1 1/4" & 1 3/8" circle and scalloped circle. On the inside I put, "And babies make 5."

Here's another card I made yesterday and it's going out today to a special friend of mine. This card is made using the "hot off the rubber press" set Time Well Spent that all active demos received FREE this past week from Stampin'Up! This set will be a level 3 hostess set in the up coming 2008 Spring/Summer collection idea book to be available Jan 2. I was so excited to receive this set and for free to boot. It was given to us by Shelli in appreciation for all that us demos do for the company. It's great to be appreciated by your employer. Woo hoo!!!! Free Rubba!!!!! Wouldn't you like to get this set for free too. Call me and book your show for after the first of the year and you can earn it for free. Oh and did I mention that if you host in January and your party totals at least $350 you get an extra free set of your choice out of the up coming 2008 Spring/Summer preview mini catalog. SU is an awesome company to work for or host a party, so call me today and we'll get you on the way to earning free stamps and accessories.
Have a great day everyone and look for more postings of fun stampin' projects this week.
Blessings,
Renee

It's a simple snowman

Here is a frame I made quick yesterday. I just love to use the white stazon ink on picture frames. It really stamps nice and clean. I used the Simple Snowman (109316) set that is in the current catalog. This is a set that I wanted the minute I saw the catalog this year. I just love the way this turned out.
I will be out to of town for a couple of days and I'm not sure if there will be internet connection so not sure if I'll post or not while I'm gone so I hope this will hold ya for a couple of days. *wink*
Blessings, Renee

Baby it's cold

Well, we woke up to no heat this morning. No, we didn't run out of wood, but the circulating pump on the furnace went up. We have a call into the plumber and hopefully he'll return the call soon. This isn't one that Frank can fix--I know unbelievable. The dishwasher is on the fritz too, but he can fix that, but just hasn't had time. He thinks there is something wrong with the pump on that. Are you seeing a pattern here? I am and I'm not liking it. Washing all the dishes by hand........I know I'm spoiled, but I do love my dishwasher. It leaves more time for stamping. *grin*
On to more important things. I've got a couple of things for you today. The JOY wall hanging is using the chipboard available only in the Holiday Mini catalog. If you haven't tried chipboard, you really should. It is so easy to work with and it makes you look like you know what you're doing--that's the part I like. *Ãœ* The ornament is made using a CD and covering it with designer paper. Speaking of designer paper, did you know that all the Stampin'Up!™ designer series papers are buy 3 get 1 free this month? That's right, through the end of the month buy 3 get 1 free and there is no limit. You can mix and match also. All packs of designer paper are $9.95 and they are double sided as well. Stock up now because when the new Spring/Summer collection debuts in January some of them may not be around. Check out the on-line catalog through my web site at http://www.reneeond.stampinup.net/ . Call me today and order yours.
Hope you enjoy these. Want to see them in person? I'm headed to Myrna Born's shortly to hold her party. I'll have them there. Maybe I'll see you there?
Have a great day and stay warm!
Blessings,
Renee

Yes, 2 posts in one day.

I've been trying to play a little catch up today and finally finished this. This is a card I created using the corner photo punch to make trees. I punched them out of textured cardstock. The colors are Wild Wasabi and Soft Sky. The trunks of the trees were made using the word window punch and the words are from Everyday Flexible Phrases. The star is punched with SU's star punch as well. Just a little different way of using punches. Enjoy!

Renee

Snow Anyone?

Did any of you see snowflakes today? There were a few that hit the windows here. Actually they were more like little ice flakes and they sure couldn't stay because that wind is blowing so hard I'm sure they were blown away and that's fine with me. Way too early for snow, but it's not too early to start stampin' some snowmen or reindeer. I made these clips using the set Merry & Bright (110376) $14.95. If you don't have this set, you don't want to miss getting it. It is so fun and easy to use. It is currently in the Holiday Mini catalog that will expire on Nov. 30. Call me today to order this cute set. Theses clips are a fun way to display a favorite picture or a special Christmas card. Hope you enjoy them!
