What a day!

What a day! I'm pooped, but it's not over yet. I just wanted to post quick and let you all know I'll try and post some pics later tonight. Right now we need to head out to get some supper and then the awards and entertainment are tonight. I'll try and post more when we get back.

I'll share one little tid bit that I thought was funny this morning and then I have to go. Frank wants to EAT!!! Shelli said that 20 yrs. ago when her and her sister started SU her dad told them that they should just enjoy their little fad. Too funny! Don't know of too many fads that have lasted 20 yrs. now do ya?

Listening to Shelli speak is so uplifting. She is a true lady and has such a giving and down to earth personality. I swear if she asked me to "drink the Kool-aid" I would. For those of you not old enough to know what I'm talking about, ask an "old person". My girls have no idea what I mean by that statement either. LOL Shelli is really such a kind sweet person.

More later. I need to feed my hubby.

A few covention pics

Here is the stamp set I received for my sales this year. It's called a Flower for All Seasons and will sell for $14.95

Here's Frank taking it easy in our room at the Monaco. The bed is just as comfortable as ours at home and that to me is always a plus cause I love my bed and my sleep.

Here's a picture of the New Catalog and the 3 sets we received in the brown convention bag. Frank receives one as well since he's a registered convention attendee. I asked him if he was going to sell it on ebay. Didn't get an answer so I'm not sure what he intends to do with it. Maybe carry his lunch to work? LOL Could you hear it now in the lunch room at Tri County Equipment?

I'll try and upload more pictures later, but right now I need a nap.

Until later................

Salt Lake City Here We Are!

We arrived in SLC yesterday late yesterday afternoon. It's very hot, but the humidity isn't too bad. Only 10% this morning. I don't even think on a good Michigan day we ever have it that low.

Our hotel is beautiful and we slept great last night. How could we not? We were so exhausted and remember it's 2 hrs. behind Michigan here. We ate supper at 8:00 pm here so that is 10:00 to my head. The flight and everything was uneventful, but when we arrived at our hotel guess what? The cr. card we had used to hold our room had been compromised and we didn't know it. You know how they say to only travel with one credit card? Not happening to me again. The hotel was very good and didn't throw us out on our butts.LOL I did a little juggling of checking account funds (they let me use their computer at the front desk) and we should be able to stay the week. LOL The real problem was that the hotel needs to put an additional $500 hold on your card for incidentals--in case Frank breaks something or eats from the stocked snacks and drinks they have in the room and you know how he likes to eat. I don't think so at $2.50 for a small bag of M & M's. LOL He's headed out now to a Rite Aid to buy some cheaper snacks and I sure hope he finds me that diet pepsi. I didn't even have one yesterday. Can you believe it?

I need to look at it as all a part of the plan God has for us. Maybe God doesn't really like credit cards after all. Do you think? LOL Anyway I'm going to look at it like my sister Carin said on
her blog today. It's a small thing. Right Carrie Boo?

Ok, I need to get into the shower and get ready to go pick up that catalog. I will post some actual pictures and stuff later tonight. Please drop me an email or post here if you have questions or just to let me know you stopped by. I can't wait to share some actual news with you.

Blessings,
Renee

Still Swap Stampin'!

Yes, I'm still stampin' some convention swaps. As you can see here I'm actually coloring in some of these Sock Monkey's. Did I say I adore this Sock Monkey? Well I think I use too. Not sure if I like this many of him. LOL.

I'm off today to get my hair cut and a pedicure at 1:00 today. I can't go to convention with ugly footsies now can I? Here's the hotel we are staying at. After checking it out you'll see why I need to look nice. *grin*. Really folks this is a fancy hotel and would by no means be a place that Frank and I could normally afford, but SU negotiated a good price on these rooms. I'm not sure if I'm looking forward more to the convention or the hotel. LOL I love to stay in hotels and especially if they are nice. To me this looks beyond nice, this looks like in the words of my sister "yummy". I can hardly wait.

Ok, I have to scoot now to go get my pampering. *Ü* Have a great day and a wonderful weekend. Oh and speaking of weekend, let me just say Pigeon Farmers Festival, Trish's parade, float, Gilligan's Island and Frank and I. If you want to know more you'll have to come to the parade or I may post pics after. We'll have to see though. *wink*

Last Weekend's Cake

Here's the cake that I made last weekend. The humidity was terrible even though I have air conditioning. I set the cake all up at home (which I always do) and it was completely level. Fast forward to the reception hall---not level. What happened I'm not sure. I used more dowel rods and we were good to go--I think. Haven't heard from Shar so I hope it was still standing. It had been awhile since I had made a cake with the fountain and pillars and heat. LOL Hope Jessica liked it.

I'm off to drop off this gift basket for the OLLH benefit auction this weekend in Harbor Beach. Some good stampin' stuff in it along with a couple of gift certificates. One will be good for a free NEW Fall and Winter catalog. It's hard to see everything in there, but believe me it's good. Best wishes for a good auction. Shannon and Jennifer along with a lot of others work hard for this.

I guess that's it for now. I'll try and be back with some stampin' later. Oh and did I mention I'm going to SU's convention next week? Couldn't remember if I had told you. Just kidding! I know you are probably tired of hearing about it, but you all are such good listeners. *wink*

Have a great day!

A Little Update

I'm a little late in posting today, but I've gotten lots accomplished. What you ask? I knew I heard you ask. Well, I got my 3D swaps all finished and shipped today. Did I mention I was crazy and joined a 3D swap? And then when the hostess was short a person I volunteered to take another spot too? Yes, you know me! I would love to show you what they were, but unfortunately I got them all finished and boxed up, since I was sending them to Salt Lake ahead of me, and then realized I hadn't' taken a picture to show you. Silly me! But there was no way I was opening that box to take the pic. In the first place I didn't have enough packaging tape to re-do the box and in the second place Brooke would have hurt me had I told her we needed to open it back up. I chose to send them ahead so I didn't have to mess with them on the plane and Frank will be happy because then he won't have to listen to me constantly tell him not to wreck them. And there would be no way I'd put them in checked luggage. I've seen them throwing those suitcases. LOL So I guess you all will have to wait until I get to SLC and take a pic before I meet for the swap. Don't worry this swap isn't until Friday so I'll have plenty of time.
Here is the update on the discontinuing accessories list. Somethings are selling out so don't delay if you really have your heart set on something. Remember retiring stamp sets will be available right up until August 10, but retiring accessories are while supplies last. To take advantage of the additional 10% I'm offering you must order by this weekend. Call me soon!

Just a quick post for today

Here's another one of my trades for convention. I only have this one done so not sure if it's really a trade yet. LOL That's ok, I have all next week to finish my stuff up.

Hump Day--Yeah!

Well "hump day" is just about over with. This is a busy week for me. I have a wedding cake and also a couple of graduation cakes to make for this weekend and I'm trying to work on my trades for convention. Did I mention we leave 2 weeks from yesterday? I am so looking forward to going. Frank and I haven't been away in such a long time so it won't only be for business, but for pleasure as well and a business tax deduction to boot! Can it get any better?

This card is one I made last week. I'm thinking about making a few to trade since I've received a lot of positive comments when I shared it on SCS. When I look at the Sock Monkey it just brings back so many childhood memories. I loved my sock monkey that my aunt made and in fact probably slept with it until I got married. Lucky for Frank huh? LOL

Ok, enough chit chat for tonight. I'm tired and I have a long day tomorrow. Why is it that when I have cakes to make we get a heat wave---guaranteed! I'll share pictures when it's done. Don't worry Shar, everything is under control.
Until later,
Renee

Convention Trades

Good evening! Sorry about not posting since Saturday. I've been working on trades for convention. I like to do trades, but I do find it sort of stressful in that I wonder if people will like what I've come up with. Seems like the expectations get higher every year and that really shouldn't be what trading is all about, IMO. It should be about getting some new ideas and seeing what others are doing in their businesses. I would love to hear your thoughts---at least I think so. *grin*. Let me know, would you trade with me? All supplies are SU of course!

Bella Rose Bracelets

Good Friday afternoon. I promised you a sneak peak and here is one. Stampin'Up! has some beautiful new designer series papers coming out in August and as a demonstrator I was able to pre-order. The new paper is called Bella Rose. The name even sounds pretty, doesn't it? As some of you know rubber stamping isn't the only craft I enjoy. I also do a little jewelry beading as well and I love it when my two crafts come together. So here you have Bella Rose DSP bracelets. I cut small pieces of paper (3/4" x 3/4") and rolled them and inserted into the tubing. Cut your tubing and you have a bead. Now string onto stretchy cording along with your other beads and there you have your bracelet. Neat huh?

Enjoy you day and I'll try and be back later with some more sneak peaks.
Blessings,
Renee

I've Been Tagged!

I can't believe it! I've been tagged. Guess I now feel like I've been accepted in the "rubber stamping world." I've admired so many of the ladies who have had blogs or share so much in the stamping world. Dena Griffin from http://denagriffin.blogspot.com tagged me yesterday. I'm honored. Many times on SCS I've read her comments and she always seems to be a voice of reason.
So I'm suppose to share 7 random things about myself. Well let's see.............
1. I was born in Riverside, California and lived there until I was 3 years old.
2. My DH is actually 9 years older than me so when I was 3, he was 12 and entering jr. high. That just seems creepy doesn't it? Don't think my parents would have let me date him then. LOL
3. My mom always bought me some sort of craft kit for Christmas when I was a kid. So I guess she's to blame for my addiction....hmmmm I mean hobby! LOL
4. My nickname is Nanakook-a-nanny. Most of my family calls me Na or Nana. That is a long a sound. Not Nana (as in grandma). My aunt one time bought me a card that was to a Nana (grandma) and she thought they had actually made a card with my nickname on it. Too funny!
5. Like Dena, Certainly Celery is one of my favorite SU colors, but greens are not my fav color either. Our dining room is painted Certainly Celery. Yep, I took a piece of card stock in and they matched it perfectly. If you asked most of my customers what my favorite SU color was they would say Certainly Celery.
6. My fav colors are actually reds and blues. And I have a lot of Americana decor in my house.
7. I love to read although I don't get a lot of time to do that much. I just read the book 90 Minutes in Heaven. All I can say is, what a book and it certainly has increased my faith. I challenge you to read it. I really love to read pioneer era type books and I've always said if I could have been born during any other time it would have been in those days. I probably would have been friends with Laura Ingalls and I wouldn't have liked Nellie Olsen either. *grin*
Ok, now for the tagging part----not sure who to tag since I don't personally know a lot of these people, but I guess you don't need to now do you? Here are some of the blogs I visit.
1. Dawn Griffith --I love her video tutorials and she just seems like a very fun person.
2. Patty Bennett-- I met Patty when I earned the SU Western Caribbean cruise 3 years ago. She is always so nice and helpful to me. Thanks Patty!
3. Sharon Rogers--Sharon is another voice of reason on SCS. I love her tag line--" Attitudes are contagious. Is yours worth catching?" Always makes me stop and think when I see her posts.
4.Julie Davison--I just discovered Julie's blog this week. She has some wonderful projects and she's already making me wish I would have pre-ordered another of the sneak peak sets.
5. Carin Orth--this is my sister and she just started to blog. It's not all about stamping, but she might have a post or two you might find interesting.
6. Primitive Seasons-Mary won some blog candy recently from my blog. She is a wonderful gardener.
7. Barb Welch--Barb is another SU demonstrator and she was so kind last year to pick me up a few SU items from convention. Her kindness inspired me so much so that I'm a convention buddy for someone this year.
Ok, I guess I'm done. Now back to stamping. Maybe tomorrow I'll show you some of my swaps for convention.

New take on old punch

I had an idea the other night for this card. You know, they hit you at the oddest times and places and you're glad people aren't reading your mind, but when creativity strikes............So yesterday I finally put it to paper. I used the 5 petal flower punch that SU has had out for awhile now and punched it out. Then I took the guard off of the ticket corner punch and used it on the tips of the 5 petal flower, like this.....

I then layered two flowers together. The middle flower is punched using the Boho Blossoms punch. I used the White Signo gel pen to add the dots. The leaves are the 5 petal flower punch cut. I used the Stem Sayings for the stems. The scallop edge punch was used for the bottom of the card. That punch will be available August 11. Colors used here are Cameo Coral, Apricot Appeal, Certainly Celery, Whisper White (Apricot Appeal ink w/Canvas background) Certainly Celery grosgrain ribbon. The main flowers are up on dimensionals as are the middles.

Have a great day and stamp a little!

A Sneak Peak

On on Tuesday, SU demonstrators got to see a sneak peak of some of the new products being released in the new catalog that will be unveiled on August 11. We were able to purchase these to. Well I couldn't sleep Monday night for some reason and kept tossing and turning. I looked at the clock and it said 3:00 a.m. My mind instantly thought, hey the preview should be up by now. Sure enough when I logged in to SU it was up. Since I was up, why not place my order? I swear to you I've never ordered anything in the middle of the night before. I also expedited my order as well. It's a little treat I allow myself a couple times of year. I guess I said all that, so that I could show you a card made with some of the new awesome products. So without further ado I give you "Sock Monkey".....................................

I think this set is so cute and you can be assured you will be seeing lots of him. Is that new colors you see? Why yes they are. And could that be a new scallop edged punch? Yes, Jessica Z. no more taking the guard off of the corner rounder. *wink* Well, I'll be giving you more sneak peaks in the next while, so stay tuned. And in the mean time don't forget to get those stamp sets the will be retiring and look for the retiring accessories list on July 21. I'll be offering a special next week as well.
Have a great 4th of July!

I will have some surprises for you in the next day or two so check back often, better yet subscribe to my blog and you'll receive updates when I post.

A card from a customer

I received payment yesterday from a customer and imagine my surprise when it included this card. Thanks Onnalee! Not many of my customers send me stuff with SU. They tell me they are afraid it won't meet my expectations. Honestly I have no expectations. I love to see what others do and when it's SU stuff I am overly excited. So if you'd like to share some of your work with me (either through the mail or email) please do and I'll be glad to share it here on my blog. It's always great to see the creativity of others.
