“OSAT Blog Hop - Very Vintage”

Hey there stamping peeps!  How is your summer going?  Mine?  Not so good, but we'll save the details for another post.  Let's just say I wasn't sure I was going to be hopping this month due to a flooded stamp room, but as I said details for another day.  It's time for the OSAT Blog Hop so let's get to hopping....................

I was excited to use some carryover products with some new products.  I think new papers and embellishments can breath new life into a stamp set that I haven't touched in awhile.  I used the stamp set Bloomin' Love for the main focal piece on my card.  I stamped in Versamark ink and embossed with Gold Embossing Powder.  I then added the Gold Metallic thread behind it, popped it up on dimensionals and layered it on Gold Foil, more dimensionals on the back of that and then onto a white doily.  The hearts were cut out using the Sweet & Sassy Framelits.  The DSP I chose was the beautiful Bundle of Love Specialty DSP.  If you loved the Falling in Love DSP that was in the last Occasions catalog, you will love this just as much.  It has different patterns, but has the same feel or vibe to it.  I just love this paper.  I chose the Soft Sky piece as my background and layered it on Gold Foil paper.  Here's a little helpful tip.  I cut a rectangle out of the Gold Foil paper before layering it so it could be saved for another project, but with it layered you would never know.  I like to do this with papers that don't come in large quantities such as the foil papers.

I used the new 3/8" Metallic-Edge Gold Ribbon to tie a bow for the bottom of the card.  Lastly I stamped the sentiment in Soft Sky and punched it out with the Classic Label Punch and trimmed the one end.  I absolutely love how this card turned out and for me at least it really has a vintage feel to it.

Next was what do I do for a 3D project that could be considered vintage? Hmmmm....... Well I started to go through a tub of things I've saved of odds and ends for projects and discovered some old salt and pepper shakers that I picked up at an estate sale.  I can't resist glassware.  I made me some daisies using the Daisy Delight bundle.  This bundle has been so popular it has gone on back order twice since the catalog came out.  It is currently not available for purchase, but it will be back in stock soon so stay tuned for updates on it.
I layered two daisies together with dimensioals and then hot glued them onto a 3/4" circle punch that was attached to a piece of floral wire.  I put the new Gold Faceted Gems in the middle of the flowers.  I cut thin strips of Pear Pizzazz cardstock for the leaves.  The shaker had oval indentions on its side so I cut the smallest oval out of the Layering Ovals and adhered them to the sides with glue dots.  I attached ribbon around the top using glue dots and then a bow that I made with the same ribbon I used on the card.

I hope you've enjoyed these projects as much I did making and sharing them with you.  Please click the NEXT button to see the fabulous Marisa Gunn and thanks for stopping by.

OSAT Blog Hop – All About Men

Well it looks like June jumped up on us quickly.  It's June 8 already, can you believe it?  I want the summer to go super slow. I want to soak in every minute of it.  The beginning of June always means the start of birthday season for our family.  We start with our oldest daughter's on June 2, and then birthdays run through July for all, but a couple of us.  Frank's birthday was yesterday and my projects for this month's hop are right up his ally.  Our wonderful Wood Textures DSP is going to get a workout in our family.  Frank cuts lots of wood year round that heats our home, our hot water and even our swimming pool.  He loves to cut wood so it's all good.  My daddy is a wood crafter and my one BIL is in the process of building them new cupboards and a new kitchen so as you can imagine this paper will be nice for those masculine cards.

I will admit that when I saw the hop title for the month I wasn't too excited.  I'm not the best at masculine cards.  I like to add embellishments, ribbon, glitter and those things are not really "manly" so I wasn't sure what I'd do.  The only manly stamp sets I have just retired and I haven't bought anything to replace them so I turned to the Wood Textures DSP and I think it fit the bill.

This card is pretty simple, but that's what I think manly cards should be.  They usually don't want all the fluff and lets face it they are  usually hoping for money inside or a gift certificate.  The black squares are 2-3/4" x 2-3/4" and the DSP is 2-1/2" x 2-1/2".  To still use some bling I used the White Perfect Accents and colored them black with a Sharpie marker. I then wrapped some linen thread around the top square.  The Happy Birthday is popped up with Dimensionals.

Then what to do for a 3D project???  I know,  I haven't used the Gift Bag Punch board in awhile so I turned to that.  I used a sheet of Basic Black cardstock cut 4-1/4" x 10 and scored on the small lines per the directions.  I put my bag together with Fast Fuse and then added pieces of the Wood DSP to the front and back.  I added Copper Metallic Thread behind the words that are popped up with Dimensionals.  I used a 3" x 6" Gusseted Cello Bag and filled with caramels and tied it off using the 5/8" burlap ribbon that I cut in two down the middle.  Once it was tied I fringed out the threads.  I think this will make a great gift ensemble for anyone of the men in our family.

OSAT May Clean and Simple Blog Hop

Hey there!  It's that time again for the OSAT blog hop.  This month's theme is clean and simple.  I knew what I wanted to make, but wasn't sure what stamp set I'd use.  Well lo and behold my new catalog preorder came a day earlier than was scheduled so I had to use my new goodies.  I hope you like my projects.

I've always liked the idea of making a border by hand and that was the first card I knew I wanted to make.  Then I got the idea that maybe I should make a set of clean and simple cards, so that is what I did and made a quick and easy holder for them as my 3D project.  I'm sorry I won't be able to link to any of the products because they won't be for sale until the debut of the new catalog on June1.  All products or than the butterfly embossing folder and the envelope punch board (holder) are sneak peek items.

The new SU In Colors are beautiful and there are some great new products coming so please stay tuned.  Click on the next button below and you will be taken to the wonderful blog of Wynne Grob

Blessings and enjoy the hop!
