OSAT Blog Hop Lay It Out

Welcome to the OSAT blog hop and my blog.  I really didn't know what the theme of the hop was until the other day.  I just hadn't gotten that far, but I knew right away what I needed to do.  My cousin passed away last month after years of addiction.  She was the kindest soul and I loved her dearly, but knew that her days would be short here on this earth with the life she lived.  It was so sad, but yet no one could change it, but her.  She was only 57.  As kids we were very close so when I found the saying I put on the bottom I knew I needed to make a scrapbook page to sort of come to terms with her passing and it was one of those things where you say you will do it soon.  Well the hop forced me to do it sooner and that's a good thing.  This is the way I want to remember her.  Always smiling and young and healthy.

I used the Graceful Garden set that I purchased last year, but really hadn't used much.  I had recently made some cards with it this past Spring and loved coloring the rose in with our Stampin'Blends,  I chose one of my favorite colors Calypso Coral to color the roses and then my coordinating color I chose Pool Party along with some Basic Black accents.  I even got some of the Share What You Love SDSP added in there and while it is a Mint Macaron color, I think it really plays well with the Pool Party.  The only downside to my creations this month is that there is no die to cut out the flowers, but I do enjoy fussy cutting at times and since making this page was a time of reflection as well, I put it to good use cutting out the flowers.

I just love this saying.  I guess I found myself feeling a little angry because my cousin wasted her life in such a way, but then when I read this it gave me some closure that I have such good childhood memories with her and those can never be taken away.  The addiction couldn't take those away.  I hope it's ok that I've been honest and open about my feelings.  I feel like this has really helped me with my grieving process.

I love how my card turned out.  It has so much dimension to it and lots of details.

As you can see in this picture I put lots of dimensionals underneath the rose and the petals.

I didn't have any current suitable ribbon for this card so I used our 3/8" Gold Metallic-Edge ribbon and colored it with the Calypso Coral Stampin' Blend.  It seconds it was dry and ready to attach.

Thank you so much for stopping by and I hope you will continue on to the next blog from the list below.

Blessings,
Renee

Thank You!

I needed some quick thank you cards a couple of weeks ago so I used one of my favorite sets called Bella and Friends. You can really make some quick and adorable cards with this set. I used some retiring DSP and some embossed backgrounds and colored in cute Bella with my Blends and then punched the sentiment with the Tailored Tag punch. These are pretty simple to produce since I had stamped a bunch of the images and colored them in one night while watching TV.

It’s Me Again!

Hi my crafting peeps!  Can you believe I’m posting again?  I’ve found some work arounds that are allowing me to post from my iPad and I have to say this is making it so much easier for me. I usually spend some time on my iPad before bed anyway and this is allowing me to be productive too. I know they say don’t go on devices before bed, but quite honestly this helps me relax and get sleepy quickly. Well here is a card I made last week. I was still using some retired colors, but wanted to give this new set a try. It’s called Accented Blooms and it corridnates with the Tailored Tag punch from the Occasions  catalog that carried over into the new book. I hope you enjoy this card and I will definitely be showing you more with this set.

I took this picture with these flowers that were still nice from my cousin’s funeral arrangement. I don’t know if you do that, but when I have flowers and some are still nice and others are done, I pull the good ones and usually put them in another vase. I was so saddened by the passing of my cousin and when her sister offered me to take an arrangement I gladly accepted. We had been so close as children, but her path took her down some very dark ways. I always wished it could have been different, but we all have choices to make in life and sometimes they can lead to a life gone to soon. I will always love and miss her.
I’ll be leaving tomorrow morning from Lindsay’s and heading home so that I can work on Wednesday.  It’s been so nice to spend her birthday with her and to get away for a few days. Take care and hopefully I’ll see you back here tomorrow night.
Blessings,
Renee

Please note the cardstock used was Sweet Sugarplum (retired) and not Flirty Flamingo. Sorry for the confusion. Flirty Flamingo will work just as well.
