Catching Up!

Sorry I didn't post yesterday.  I had a cake to make and by last night I was just too pooped to get do my blog post.  So  here is a post for now to make up for yesterday and a I'm going to try to post later as well.

The other day my dear sweet friend Pam came over and we spent a little time stamping and visiting.  She wanted to know how to do the startburst technique so I showed her how.

I used the Epic Day DSP for this one.  I just love the Cameo Coral.  The green is Gumball Green.  The words are from the set Hello Lovely that you've seen me use in the last week or so.  To top it off I used some Cameo Coral Baker's Twine.  A very easy card to make.  Would you like to learn how to do this technique.  Give me a call and we'll make a date to get together to make one.  I'd love to show you.

 

Now I'll show you the cake that kept me busy yesterday.

 

I find it rather surreal to think I'm now making cakes for people I went to high school with for their grown children getting married.  Who would have ever thought that I'd be doing something like that  all these years later.  Heck in my head I still feel like I'm in high school, but my body certainly lets me know differently. ;)  It's one of the blessings of a small town.  Everybody knows everybody.

 

 I certainly was happy with how it turned out.  I thought the colors were pretty and for once it was a good weather day to make roses in Michigan.  Best wishes to the happy couple.  Oh and BTW I used my Heart Framelits as my pattern for the hearts.  Them framelits are so versitile. ;)

Ahhh..........Saturday!

It's Saturday and I have nothing that is extremely pressing today, well unless you call housework pressing, but I'm good at pressing that back.  LOL!  I've got a new technique I learned from SU demonstrator Dawn Olchefske (and you thought my name was a hard one. ;) )  She really has some great videos that are very easy to follow.  I actually subscribe to her YouTube channel.  So without further adieu here is the card I made using this cool technique.

 

This starburst pattern is much easier than it looks, honest!  I whipped this up in no time.  Of course I had to add some bling.  Don't you just love bling?  I cut the snowflake out with the Festive Flurry Framelits and the Silver Glimmer paper.  I used the Winter Frost DSP stack.  This is in the new Holiday Catlog and is 48 sheets, 24 ea. of 2 double-sided designs. and sized 4 1/2" x 6 1/2" for just $6.95.  These are a great value and super great for cards.  I've used all 4 patterns here on this card. I punched a little 7/8" scallop circle from the scraps and put that on the snowflake and then added some more bling.  These are beautiful Frosted Finishes Embellishments and you get 12 of them for $6.95.  They are gorgeous!!!  At convention I saw where demos had made jewelry using them.  The are an excellent quality.  They are just flat on the back.  Here is a link on Pintrest to show you. I haven't made any jewelry in awhile, but I think I'm going to be making some of these.  Wouldn't they be a great gift?  To finish this card off I added some of the Organza Ribbon.  One of my favorite ribbons of all time.

 

Yesterday I promised to show you my new 12 x 12 DSP storage.  I have been trying to figure out a way that I don't have to dig it out all the time and make it much more handy.  Well unfortunately I hadn't come up with anything until I went to use the file storage that I had bought from Thirty-one.  I had purchased it with the intent of using it for our household bookwork, yeah bills and stuff :(. As I finally thought I'm going to put this to use, I got the idea to see if 12 x 12 paper would fit in it.  The file is actually for regular file folders.  Well Lo and Behold!  They fit!!!  Yay!!!!! I was so excited.  I got out some of the paper file dividers I had bought back when SU carried them.  I got out my label maker and made labels and this is what you see.

 

 

It even has a couple front pockets so I can store my 4 1/2" x 6 1/2" paper stacks.  Did you know we currently have 2 of them in the Holiday Catalog?  The Winter Frost I talked about above and one called Season of Style which has some Cherry Cobbler, Old Olive and Crumb Cake colors.  Between each DSP pack I've put a regular file folder to hold the scraps.  I am really lovin' it!  If you are interested in purchasing one and don't have a Thirty-One consultant you can shop with my very good friend Anne Anderson.  Her web site is HERE.  I'm definitely going to get myself another one or two. ;)
