Baby It's Hot Out!

It is extremely and unusually hot here in Michigan and guess who hasn't replaced their air conditioners and fans that were lost in the fire?  So what's a girl to do, but head to her stamp room in the basement and keep cool.  I've even got it cleaned and organized, well almost.  That cleaning stuff makes you hot! *grin*

Now to today's project.  Brooke, (who if you know her, has some organization issues) asked me to make-over her First Aid kit she carries in her purse.  Yes, everything needs to be organized and in containers.  I have no idea where she got this from. (cough, cough)  So making it over is what I set out to do this afternoon.  She's my pink girl so I reached for the Raspberry Lemonaid DSP to cover the top and some of the Stitched Felt pieces I had left over.  The letters were made using the Big Shot and the Naturally Serif Sizzlit Decorative Strip die.  I love this alphabet because it's all on one strip and it's easy to just put a scrap over the letter/letters you need and it's a good way to use up scraps.  This alphabet is good too because it's small and is great for cards and small  projects such as this.  I used Sticky Strip to attached the DSP and the felt pieces and used my mini Xyron machine to adhere the letters.  Brooke hasn't seen it yet, but I'm thinking she will love it.

So stay cool my friends and I'll see ya here next time.

Renee

Two Tags Die Box

While perusing the web I came across this idea of using the Two Tags Big Shot Die to make a little box.  I can't remember where, but I do remember they said it was something shared on the SU cruise.  If it's your idea I would be more than happy to give you credit.  It is so very easy to make.  I used the new DSP  Island Oasis and what I had left of the sheet of the new color debuting on July 1 called Cherry Cobbler.  I'm sure this new color is going to be one of my favs for sure.  I cut the flowers out from the DSP to add to the front and then stamped and punched the hello using the set Tiny Tags and the Tiny Tags Punch.  If you purchase this die from me either through my SU website or directly from me I will give you the dimensions so you can make this cute little box.  The die is available on page 198 of the current catalog.

And speaking of catalogs.  The new 2010/2011 Idea Book and Catalog will make it's debut on July 1 so please contact me to reserve yours.  Either book a party with me for the coming months or place a $50 order in June and the new book will be yours for FREE!  Or you can purchase a book for $5.00 (my cost) and pick it up here at my house.  Either way, let me know so that I can be sure to have plenty of catalogs on hand.

Remember the retiring list of stamp sets and accessories will be posted on June 1.  Stamps will be available until June 30, but accessories will be while supplies last so don't miss out.  See my side bar for the colors that will be retiring on June 30.  Don't delay.  Some have already sold out.  Please contact me for the current list of sold out colors.

A Gift Card

I just received a phone call for a Stampin'Up! gift certificate and I knew I better do it immediately since I'm suppose to take it to church with me tomorrow.  I looked at my desk to see what was handy and then knew instantly what I wanted to do.  I had seen this idea from fellow demo Jan Wakeland this week and wanted to give it a try.  Very easy and I used things that I already had cut out.  I love when a plan comes together, don't you?
Here is what it looks like in the inside.

Hope you're having a great Saturday!

Sadie Sue

Is this baby not adorable?  I thought this stamp set, Elements of Style, perfect for this scrapbook page.  Sadie is the god-daughter of my sister Michele's.  Life has been so busy lately that I haven't had a lot of time to stamp, but I did take the day Saturday and spend some time with friends scrapbooking and this is one of the pages I made.  Hopefully I'll be able to share more with you in the coming days and weeks.

Frank's check up for his thyroid cancer went well and as long as his bloodwork comes back ok he can put the full radioactive scan off until the first of next year.  His ultrasound looked good and we are thanking the Lord for a good report.  My mom is doing some better and I am off to take her to the pain clinic today so we are praying that all goes well.  Hopefully she's back onto the road to recovery.  Thanks for your continued prayers.

Have a great day!

My Mother's Day Card

Here is my Mother's Day card my hubby made for me this year.  The picture below is the inside.  Isn't he awesome!!!!!

As you can see he's not much into layering, but he does have an eye for balance. Don't ya think?   I even got breakfast served in bed, we had lunch out with family and the movie Date Night in the evening.  It was a great day and Frankie's a great hubby.  Thanks babe!
Blessings to you today as I am off to scrapbook all day.  Yay!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Better Late Than Never

My intentions were to have something posted much earlier today, but that just didn't happen, but I'm here now.  I made this using my new set Elements of Style and then embossed it with the Square Lattice embossing folder.  All stamping and coloring in was done before embossing.  I cut the bird out and put it on dimensionals.  Colors used were Rich Razzleberry and Certainly Celery.
Hope you enjoy it.  Going to go have dinner with my hubby and then a girls scrapbooking day tomorrow.  Yay!

Missing in Action

I can't believe it's been a week since I posted last, especially since I had been posting for over 30 days straight.  Well life kind of got in the way this week.  I had the Women's Expo on Saturday during the day, Mother & Daughter Banquet Saturday night, church Sunday morning, went to dinner with family, a little nap and a movie with my hubby on Sunday night.  I thought Monday would slow down, but no such luck.  My mom ended up in the hospital on Monday so Monday and Tuesday were spent there.  Then on Wednesday my sister Michele had to go to court in a case of drunk driving.  No she wasn't the one drunk and I went along with her so she wouldn't have to go alone..  She witnessed a drunk driver running through a stop sign and driving irratically and called 911.  The man in ended up pleading guilty so she didn't have to testify, but a nice afternoon was wasted waiting.  As a side note he had only been released 6 days before this incident for having served time for drunk driving.  Amazing!

Oh so what else have I been up to you ask? Well I've had several cakes to make during this time as well and that is what I will share with you for now.  I'll be back tomorrow with some stamping.  So until then.........

Notebook Make Overs

These $ Store notebooks got a litle makeover yesterday and I used the Petal Party Simply Scrapbooking Kit (page 166, 113059, $19.95) to make them.  I did use some Lovely Lilac cardstock to cover the notebooks, but the rest is from the kit.  Aren't they cute?  I just love to make things like this.  I will have more to show you tomorrow.  Between baking cakes and getting ready for this Women's Expo I've still got lots on my plate today.  Hope you're having a good one.

Sad News Today

I received some sad news this morning from a fellow demonstrator in Virginia.  Her 22 yr. old only son was tragically killed in an auto accident on Sunday.  My heart truly breaks for her and her family this morning.  Just a little background on my connection with Phyllis.  I don't know Phyllis personally, but last year when we suffered our house fire, Phyllis was one of the many demos who came to my aid in helping me build my supplies back up to keep my business going.  As I've told at many of my workshops Phyllis is the demo who bought me a new set of markers.  If you know me at all you know I love my markers and the fact that a total stranger would be so generous really touched my heart.  Every time I use my markers I think of Phyllis.  If you would please remember Phyllis and her family in your prayers I would so appreciate it and I know she would too.

Here are a couple of the mini albums that I've made in the last few days to sell at the expo.  These make nice little photo albums to keep in your purse.

Simple Wedding Cards

I almost forgot to post today since I've still been busy getting ready for the Women's Expo this Saturday.  I totally admire those who do craft shows because I'm finding them to be lots or work.  Maybe it's becaues I've been trying to cram getting everything made into just a couple of weeks.  Anyhoo, here are a couple of wedding cards I made on the weekend.  Using a retired stamp set and retired colors.  The run on words are from the current catalog and they are call Chit Chat ( 111804 pg. 177) and sell for $10.95.   Lots for words and you get two sheets, one sheet of white and one of chocolate chip.  The heart scallop corner punch is still available (118072) and sells for $9.95.

Come back tomorrow as I'll be sharing some mini scrapbooks with you.
Blessings,
Renee

More Black Magic

Happy Sunday stampers!  Here is another Black Magic technique card.  I used the new Watercolor Trio stamp set available in the new Summer Mini Catalog.  Did you know you can purchase this set in either wood mount or clear mount?  Of course with the wood mount you get the wood blocks and the set sells for $22.95 or in the clear mount for $16.95.  You will need to purchase separately the clear blocks--page 6 of the mini.  Blocks C, D, H work great with this set.  The vine stamped in the bottom corner was actually a mistake.  I was going to stamp Garden Green on the Garden Green cardstock and accidently inked it up in Basic Black and stamped.  I thought, "Oh no!  I've ruined it!"  Wait! I think the black looks good and goes with the black focal point image.  See there really are no mistakes in stamping!  *wink*  Have a wonder full day!

Renee

Wow! What to share today. I’ve been having so much fun making cards this week. It really feels good just to be creating and doing whatever strikes my fancy as opposed to figuring out make and takes. Not that I don’t enjoy that as well, but when I’m doing that I have to make sure I have enough supplies on hand to make multiples. This way I’m just making one of a kinds and can duplicate if I so desire and if I have more supplies to do so. Make sense?

Anyway, this card is the coolest evah!! It’s called Black Magic with a Twist (no it’s not like the time David Copperfield made my sister disappear at his show) The twist part is adding the white gel pen dots. Making the magic happens like this. Stamp your image in Whisper White Craft Ink. Let dry. (that’s the hard part and you can speed it up with your heat gun if you want or blow real hard on it) LOL! Then take your Stampin’Up! watercolor PENCILS, (not crayons) and color over the white, starting with the lighter colors first and then highlighting with dark colors. That’s it! I know it sounds so easy and believe me it is. It will truly make you feel like an artist even if you think you’re not.

Here's a few more random cards for you.  Of course all products used are SU!  Contact me if you need any more info.  BTW the Summer Mini Catalog debuted this morning.  Got your copy yet?  If you'd like one please feel free to contact me.
