Home Decor SU Style Blog Hop August 2018

Hi there SU home style blog fans!  Yes, I know that it says August in my title.  Due to some unforeseen circumstances we weren't able to hop on our usual day last month so we are making it up today.  It's been hard keeping my project a secret because I'm so thrilled with how this turned out.  It's been sitting on my mantle shelf in my living room for a couple of weeks and I just love it.  I hope you do too.

I used the Daisy Punch to make sunflowers.  I used three punches for each flower.  I ran them through the new Subtle embossing folder to give even more texture and I stamped them in Crushed Curry and Daffodil Delight so that they wouldn't be all one color and would show some variation to them.  You know, more like nature.  I used an embroidery hoop for the base as you can see in the pic below.  I put each flower together with dimensionals between each layer.  Each flower took three large dimensionals and one mini dimensionals.

The hoop was a bit bare for my liking, so I used the Boxwood Wreath embellishments from page 199 of the catalog.  I unrolled them and wrapped around the hoop, helping it to look fuller.  I then used the Leaf punch and added in some paper leaves as well.  I glued everything on with hot glue as I want this to be very sturdy.  For the finishing touch I added a Burlap Ribbon bow.  I love how I was able to curl this fun ribbon to make the tails of the bow.  It was super easy and I thought it was a great finish.

When I went to put it on my mantle shelf (that's what I call it because it's not a mantle on a fireplace, it's a mantle shelf above our television....hence it's name mantle shelf. LOL!) I found it too small to me the main focal piece, so I added it to the grapevine and berry wreath that I've had up there all summer.  I personally thought it looked good inside this wreath so I went with it.  My dad made this shelf for me this past late winter/spring and the hubby took his time getting it up for me.  You know how that goes.  I've had the best time decorating it and changing it out whenever I've felt like it.  Now we are getting to the months that are perfect for decorating, so I'm excited about all the potential it has, so stay tuned.

I will post all the supplies used below.  Thanks for stopping by and I hope you you will hop onto the next person below.

Blessings,
Renee

Great idea Renee! I love the wreath and the fact that it accents another wreath. Oh, the possibilities!!

I love how you have changed an embroidery hoop into a wreath. You can do so much with the Daisy bundle.

Gorgeous project, so striking and I too love the curled ribbon and how you've doubled it up with the other wreath. I'm envious of your mantle shelf. We don't have such a space in our home and Id love one x
