Holiday Projects

I found a little time this morning to make a couple cards for the holder I showed you yesterday. What do you think? I just love the Pink Pirouette and Riding Hood Red colors together. How about you?

The snowflake was cut with the Sizzix Snowflake Die and I added a felt flurries snowflake to the center of it along with a rhinestone brad. The exclusive Top Note Die was used for the Bella Rose DSP piece. The words are from the All Holidays set and punched out with the new Wide Oval Punch and then I added a little Riding Hood Red satin ribbon. All supplies are Stampin'Up! of course.

On the other card I used the Holiday Treasures DSP, Season of Joy stamp set, Scallop Edge punch and Riding Hood Red grosgrain ribbon.

I'm still working on the box pattern. I'll get back to you a little later.

A Good Weekend

I know I'm a little late in posting today. I went with Lindsay to the Michigan Works office this morning so that she could up-date her resume and start to receive her unemployment. The pizzeria hasn't re-opened, but will soon, we hope, but until then she qualifies to draw unemployment compensation. Then I had to make a couple of stops. One was the Back Street quilt store and the other Har Jo's Ben Franklin. I had time to do a little Internet surfing on the weekend and came up with a project or two I would like to try. Of course I needed a couple things for those (contrary to popular belief I don't have everything in the crafting department) so I picked up those things that I needed and hopefully will be able to show you these projects in the next few days. I'm excited to get at these and then share them with you.

Frank and I celebrated our 22nd. anniversary this weekend so we spent some time just relaxing, watching TV and just hanging out together. Seems life gets so busy and we don't do enough of that. Friday night we did end up going to the movies. We saw Nights in Rodanthe. Great movie, but take a Kleenex or two.

Now to the stamping. Here is what I did accomplish on the weekend. I know it's not much, but it was fun to make. I saw this idea on several web sites and I'm in the process of making a pattern of my own to share how I did mine. Maybe I can post it tomorrow along with some cards to go into the box.

I'm back!

Wow 2 posts in one day. Wanted to get another in before we loose power. LOL I've been having fun making these stars/snowflakes or whatever you want to call them. I had tried a small one starting with a 3" square and then decided I wanted to make one using 6" squares. I had a pad of the DSP that is a Level 1 hostess choice so I didn't even need to cut my squares. I found this idea here. Monica has a great video to show you how. Give them a try and let me know by posting on your blog and linking back here or email me your design and I'll post it here on mine.

I'm off now. Frank and I are going to a movie tonight since our anniversary is tomorrow. We don't do things like this very often. He's usually not home from work very early and let's face it, I couldn't go to a late show. I'd be sleeping no matter how good it was. LOL He was sent home early from work today--something about parts not coming in for the tractor he was working on. UPS lost them. UPS didn't loose my SU order. It just arrived a few minutes ago. Now the choice, get ready to go or go through the box of goodies. Hmmmm let me think.........................

Just another non-electrical day!

I know some of you probably may think I'm making this up or that maybe I've done some time travel to the days when electricity wasn't so reliable, but really I haven't. Again yesterday we lost electricity. Yes, you read that right. From 9:30 am to 3:00 pm. Really have no reason as to why, but I did finally get someone at DTE to file a report about all the frequent outages we have here. Granted the barn issue was completely different, but if the wind blows a little we are out. We loose electricity at least a half dozen times a year. Yesterday was beautiful, sunny, no wind so I'm not sure what was up. Anyway, that is the reason for no post yesterday.

Here's what I have for you today. Easy pencil holders.

I found this idea over on Hannah Kost's blog. She has some great ideas on her blog so take a visit if you have the time. These are so quick and easy to make. I think a pack of these need to go to a special algebra tutor I know. She probably could use an extra pencil or two. *wink* Sometimes the most giving and gracious people we come in contact with are the teachers and para-professionals who work with our kids. They do a job that would not be my first choice as a profession. This para-professional puts up with the perfectionist daughter I have. I'm not sure if Brooke really needs the help in algebra or she likes the time she spends with the tutor. Thanks Mrs. K for your love of my child.

Another Faux Quilted Item

Can you tell I'm into faux quilting? I had found this idea over on SCS made by MichelleY and thought it was so cute and I needed to case it. I can't wait to make some more of these. Guess where you might be able to find some of these soon?

Well that's all for today. I have to go help my dad at the hunting lodge. The duck hunting season is winding down and for that I'm grateful. Not that I don't enjoy most of it, but it can be a little overwhelming when I have so many other "jobs" I do. Some pay and some don't. *wink* Hopefully I'll be back tomorrow with some more to share.

The Easy Kind of Quilting

As some of you know, I tried quilting once. I made a small wall quilt and it really satisfied my desire to quilt. It took me forever and since I'm a perfectionist, it really took me forever. And it wasn't perfect in the end anyway, so I haven't done any more quilting until today. Paper quilting is so much easier, well at least for some of us. LOL

The local quilt shop has asked me to make some ornaments for their tree and I finally had some time to start today. So what do you think? Leave me a comment and let me know. I've sent it to the quilt shop and I'm waiting on what they think. I made these using 4" round medium weight coasters (no I didn't steal them from a restaurant). I used the Holiday Treasures DSP and Felt Snow Flurries.

Happy Election Day!

That really doesn't sound right, now does it? Well whatever your vote, vote and make it count and move on. At least that's what I'm doing. I feel like we all need a new fresh start and to put away all the election/economy attitudes and BE HAPPY! And to be happy today I'm doing some stamping and creating for myself. I made this card just a few minutes ago

and I have to say I am so pleased with it. I used my Big Shot machine, Top Note Die and Sizzlets Birds and Blooms dies. Did I mention these dies are all exclusive to Stampin'Up!? Yep they are and I don't know how a person can live without them. At least that's what I told Frank. LOL I also used the lovely DSP Autumn Vine. Doesn't it just give you a warm and cozy feeling? Love them fall colors. The Happy Thanksgiving was from the Holidays and Wishes set and punched out with the new Wide Oval Punch.
