Welcome to the OSAT monthly blog hop. I'm so glad you've stopped by. Sorry I didn't hop last month, just so many things happening and not all good. I've lost two of my dear sweet aunts this summer. That leaves only my momma and daddy left on my momma's side. Crafting has always been a healing thing for me, but not so much this time. It hasn't helped that we've had an unusually hot summer and my stamp room is in the basement and even my basement has gotten hot. Ugh!!! But it has cooled off some and we are in the 70's and low 80's and I entered the stamp room to create. I found this theme rather fun. I started with something really simple by taking myself back 21 years ago and what I would have made as a new stamper with limited supplies.
I chose to do my first card using just one color of ink and making my card monochromatic. When you are first starting out or don't have a lot of time monochromatic is the way to go. I just use either white or vanilla to go with one color. In this case I used vanilla cardstock for my stamping. The only "fancy" thing I used was the Stitched Rectangles for my focal piece. That really wouldn't be necessary to do that. I could have just cut the rectangle with my paper cutter, but the stitching does step it up a bit even though this is a card for a beginner crafter/stamper. I stamped the words and cut around them and did not use any dimensionals. Even though this card can seem super simple, who wouldn't like to get this cute card in the mail to brighten their day?
This next card is for the causal crafter/stamper. This time I added some DSP for the back ground and I used two colors with this card and did an ever so little coloring on it. Now this one was hard for me. I love to color and I had to keep myself to just using the two colors so I stamped in on and chose just the coat to color using the other color I had chosen. I used a regular Stampin' Write marker to color. This time I didn't line up my layers and gave them a little tilt and my words, while still hand cut, I popped them ups with dimensionals. Don't you love that DSP? All the supplies I used will be at the bottom of this post so check it out to see what all the colors and supplies I used.
Now for my final card. This is more the avid crafter/stamper. This one I went all out with while still using the same stamp set. I stamped the image using Memento black ink so that I could fully color my image with our amazing Stampin' Blends. The Blends are alcohol based markers and you need to use a water based ink to stamp when using the Blends so your image doesn't bleed. Did I mention how much fun I had making this card? Coloring and shading with SU Blends is so easy. I again used some of the same DSP, just another design to make my colors pop that I chose to color with. I used some Matt Decorative Dots to bling my card up a bit and I layered not only the words which were punched out, but I put dimensionals on them as well as the layer of vanilla cardstock.
Here the cards are all together. You can see I used the same set, same DSP and I used Linen Thread on all three. This shows you how versatile that Linen Thread can be. Oh and on the casual and avid crafter/stamper cards I used the little stamp in that set to ground my image, but I left it off of the simple or beginner card, but that shows just how much that changes the look without much work at all.
