Winter Post

Are you getting tired of this set yet? I'm not. I had another one of those plain porcelain ornaments left that I had made a while back (see this post) I covered the last one with craft ink, but this one I wanted to cover with Baja Breeze and SU doesn't carry the craft pad in that color so I just used the classic ink. It took a few more layers, but it worked. I then covered the edges using gold Encore ink and stamped the images with it as well. When it was dry I sprayed on a light coat of acrylic sealer and then added my gold ribbon (SU retired) It really has that antique/vintage look, don't you think? I really should have bought more of those that day when they were on sale. Now the search begins to see if I can find more.

Happy Turkey Day!

Good morning and Happy Turkey Day! We will be off soon to our family gathering. Every year is a little different, but always in the same location. The hunting club where my dad, my girls and I work during the summer and fall is the location of our dinner. You ask why it's a little different then? We just never know for sure who will be there. It usually is a collection of in-laws, out-laws and then the ones you are blood related to that you can't help if they show up. LOL I'm joking, well kinda. *grin*

I made a turkey, bread pudding and then Lindsay made a cheeses ball and pumpkin pie-ala-easy so we are good to go on our part. I didn't make rolls this year. I know, gasp! Mom said she'd take care of those so I hope no one is disappointed. About me not bringing them, not mom making them. LOL I'm just too funny today. Am I not? The holidays and family gatherings tend to do that to me. It's always best to keep your humor through things like this. *wink*

Really all kidding aside, I am thankful this day for so many things. A few of them are my hubby, who is the bestest guy you could find, my two wonderful extremely mature for their ages, daughters, my mom & dad, my sisters and even my brother-in-law (he took Carin off our hands didn't he?) ok, ok, I said all kidding aside, but I had to put that one in there. I do love my sisters and am very thankful for them. They are my best buds and I'd be very lonesome without them. I'm also thankful for all my friends I have, including my cyber friends who drop by now and then. I've very thankful for the joy of papercrafting as well. It truly is a blessing and I hope that with it I can be a blessing in return. Most of all I'm thankful for a God who loves me and died for me even though I am so undeserving.

Before I sign off and head out to our family gathering I wanted to share a little something I made this week.

More Table Runner Info

Here's another picture of the table runner I showed you yesterday. For some reason I'm having a hard time getting good lighting. Oh yeah I forgot it's November and I live in Michigan. LOL Here's the details I promised. I used brown felt to make 16 pennants (SU's exclusive pennant die) The snowflakes are made from light blue (hard to see from the pic) and the large snowflake die from SU. I bought all the materials (or should I say my mom did? Thanks Mom!) from Har Jo's Ben Franklin. I love that store. I guess because it reminds me of the old fashioned 5 & dime. The small snowflake was a Sizzix die that my mom has had for several years. We glued it together using fabric glue and just so you know fabric glue can get old and very clumpy over time so it's best to use new glue to make it go faster. Don't ask how I know. LOL We used the large #2 scallop circle under the large snowflakes. You could sew this together if you wanted, but using fabric glue was pretty easy. Hope you like it. A Snowy Monday

My mom and dad invited me over for breakfast this morning so Lindsay and I headed over with the intention of just staying a little while. Well I finally arrived home around 6:30 tonight. Long breakfast eh? This is what my mom and I ended up working on this very snowy Monday. Don't you love 'em?

I had this idea in my head the minute Shelli showed her apron at convention. My mind went to a table runner. Don't ask me why, but others must have been thinking the same thing because I've seen a couple of others make a table runner using material, but my mind went to felt. We used the exclusive SU pennant die for the base of the table runner. I'll post more info and see if I can get a better picture tomorrow in the daylight so you can see it a little better, but I just had to share this quick tonight.

A Winter Post

Good chilly morning! There's frost on the pumpkin this morning that's for sure. I have a couple of things to share this morning using my new Winter Post set. I wasn't going to get this set, but decided I deserved a treat. *grin* I purchased some of the vinyl that SU is now carrying that can be used in the Big Shot machine (or any die cute machine you may have) and used it to create the snowflakes on this jar. Isn't it cute? This was a jar that once had a candle in it and it was in my stash of "do something" with it. I added some of the Alpine Ribbon Originals ribbon, a SnowFlurries snowflake, an Antique Brass Build-a-Brad on top along with some Ski Slope DSP and then filled it with some red and white striped mints.

My Uncle Bob has been sick and in the hospital and I really needed to get a card out to him. I'm not sure if this is very masculine, but it gets the point across. I actually made this using up some of the odds and ends I had on my desk. I love to do that and it can really help get the creative juices going.

It's a Country Living Christmas

Hi stampers, I finally got a little time play with my new Country Living Christmas stamp kit. Isn't this cute? The ornament, not the girl silly! (well the girl is cute, but that's a given) *wink* This was so easy to put together. I covered the chipboard with the die cut paper. Yes, you heard that right. No paper cutting whatsoever. Applied glue to the chipboard that was just punched out of the sheet and punched out the paper (like paper dolls punched out) and adhered it to the chipboard. So easy, easy peasy as they say. I can't wait to make more.

Oh the tree, you ask? I bought this little metal tree at IKEA. Have you ever been? This store is the most awesome store I've ever been to. We were at the one in Chicago last week and I was in total awe. They have one in Canton, Michigan and I NEED to go again. Anyone want to come? It was just the coolest.
